Origin and history
XLSIOR (pronounced "Excelsior") was founded in 2009 by Anastasios Kapetanias. He recognized the potential to establish an exclusive circuit festival on the island that is already popular with the LGBTQ+ community. What once started as a small event, thanks to growing international attention quickly developed into a one-week festival.
XLSIOR deliberately positioned itself as a premium alternative to other circuit festivals - with higher-priced tickets, selected locations and a clear focus on high-quality production. This approach attracted an international, style-conscious audience and made XLSIOR an integral part of the global festival calendar.
